Chiropractic Care And Allergy Relief

leon • Mar 02, 2019

Spring is on the way. Flowers will be budding, leaves are forming and growing, the days are getting a little longer. That’s awesome, right?

Unfortunately for many of us, when we hear “spring is in the air,” we can’t help but dread the months of runny noses, itchy eyes, and sneezing. We’re actually more likely to grab a handful of tissues than stop and smell the flowers.

You may be familiar with the fact that Chiropractic adjustments can improve many conditions, but what you may not be aware of is that chiropractic treatment can have a positive impact on allergies and asthma too. If you are a suffer from seasonal allergies Chiropractic care is worth taking a moment to look at when searching for treatment.

What Causes Allergies:

Your immune system has a task to recognize and remove harmful substances from your body. Inflammation, sneezing, coughing, and vomiting are methods the immune system often uses to rid itself of any dangerous substance ingested.

However, an allergic response is when your immune system is activated to fight against a substance that is usually considered harmless. Essentially, the allergic reaction is caused not by the substance itself but by how your body interprets that substance considering it potentially harmful.

How Your Body Reacts

When an allergic reaction is initiated, the body activates special immune cells called mast cells. On the surface of their membranes, these mast cells hold receptors that recognize substances considered either harmful or helpful to the body. When adverse substances are detected, the cells then release histamines. These chemicals sensitize the body to react, which then attempts to rid these harmful substances by sneezing, coughing, etc.

How Chiropractic Care Can Help

Chiropractic Care can release the nervous system which then allows the immune system to work more efficiently. Both the immune and respiratory systems depend on correct communication between the brain and the spinal cord to control and coordinate their functions. If there is an interruption in the communication system such as misalignment, the immune system may become compromised.

When an immune system is functioning optimally it helps to prevent disease and infection, and also helps you to deal with stress and essentially makes sure the body is healthy overall. It attacks the invasion of foreign substances like pollution, dust, and pollen and heads them off before they can do damage.

Misalignments in the spine can disrupt how the brain communicates with the rest of the body. Through manipulation of the joints and the soft tissue, pathways between the brain and spine can be opened up again and the body’s alignment can be restored.

The Takeaway

Chiropractic adjustments do not treat allergies or the immune system. The adjustments eliminate interference to the nervous system to allow the body to function and fight like as it was designed to.

Chiropractic care helps realigns the spine thus opening the necessary pathways of communication between the brain and the spine, in turn, allowing the body to heal itself. Chiropractic care is an amazing holistic approach to allergy treatment; it basically allows your body to do what it was meant to do.

Chiropractic evidence proves that the solution to most allergy problems already exists within the body.
